Law Ruler Integration Guide: 1 of 2 - Get Ready and Fill Out the Mapping Sheet

Use this guide first. It helps you get Law Ruler ready and fill out the mapping sheet before you turn the sync on in Kayse.

What You Need

Before you start, make sure you have:

Step 1: Ask Law Ruler To Turn On API Access

Do this first. Do not wait until the end.

Ask Law Ruler support to:

  • turn on Advanced API
  • raise your API rate limits for Kayse

You can send that request to support@lawruler.com.

This step can take time, so it is best to ask early.

Step 2: Add Your API Info To The Sheet

  1. Log in to Law Ruler.
  2. Go to Setup -> Third-Party Integrations.
  3. Copy your API values.
  4. Open the Kayse mapping sheet.
  5. Paste the API values into the sheet.
  6. Remove any sample text you do not need.

Step 3: Add One Case Type At A Time

Use one sheet for one Law Ruler case type.

At the top of the sheet, add the exact Law Ruler case type name you are mapping.

If you use more than one case type, repeat the same process for each one.

Step 4: Copy The Fields From Law Ruler

  1. In Law Ruler, go to Setup -> Intake/Case Form Builder.
  2. Open the case type you are mapping.
  3. Review each field you want Kayse to use.
  4. Copy the field details into the sheet.

Only add fields you want Kayse to read or write.

Do not add status fields here. Status sync is set up later in Kayse.

Step 5: Fill Out The Sheet Clearly

For each row, keep enough detail so your team can confirm the right field was chosen, even if similar questions appear on more than one form.

The sheet should keep these columns:

  • Custom# / field ID
    Example: Custom1234
  • Friendly field name
Example: Did you miss work after the accident?
  • Field type
Example: text, date, yes/no, single select, multi select
  • Valid options
Example: Yes, No or a dropdown list

Default Fields

If the field is a Law Ruler default field:

  • keep the Law Ruler field name or ID
  • add a friendly field name your team understands
  • add the field type if you know it

Custom Fields

If the field is a custom field:

  • keep the exact Custom# value
  • add a friendly field name
  • add the field type
  • add the valid options when the field uses choices

Do not replace the Custom# value with a friendly label. Keep both.

Step 6: Send The Finished Sheet To Kayse

When the sheet is ready, send it to the Kayse team so we can finish your mapping setup.
